Legal
Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Maa Se collects from you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to our website and our WhatsApp-based service.
1. What we collect
- Identity and contact: your name, WhatsApp phone number, and, where applicable, home delivery address.
- Delivery context: the office building, floor, or neighbourhood you ask us to deliver to.
- Order history: the plans you subscribed to, meal credits used, delivery dates, skipped meals, and feedback you share with us.
- Payments: transaction references and payment amounts, processed through UPI or an authorised payment gateway. We do not store card numbers, UPI PINs, or bank credentials.
- Product usage: pages you visit on our website, device type and browser, and anonymised analytics for product improvement.
2. How we use it
- To deliver your meals and process your subscription.
- To communicate order confirmations, delivery updates, and support conversations, primarily over WhatsApp.
- To improve the service — understand drop-off points, popular cuisines, menu preferences, and delivery patterns in aggregate.
- To comply with applicable legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
3. Who we share it with
- Payment processors: for the purpose of collecting payments only. We pass along the transaction amount and a reference identifier, and receive back settlement status.
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Ireland): as the messaging channel for our service.
- Google / Firebase: as our database, authentication, and hosting provider.
- Delivery partners: limited to your name, delivery location, and the day’s meal count — only for the purpose of completing that day’s delivery.
- Legal authorities: where compelled to do so under applicable law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train third-party models.
4. How long we keep it
Active subscriber data is retained for as long as your subscription is active, and for up to twelve months after cancellation for tax and audit purposes. Anonymised analytics and aggregated order history may be retained longer for operational reasons. Payment records are retained as required by Indian tax law.
5. Your rights
- You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- You may ask us to delete your personal information, subject to our legal obligation to retain payment records.
- You may withdraw consent to receive WhatsApp messages, at which point your subscription will be paused or cancelled as we cannot operate without that contact channel.
To exercise any of these rights, email us via the address on our Contact page. We respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies and local storage
Our website uses a small amount of session storage to remember the plan and cuisine you are browsing, before you sign in. We do not set advertising cookies. After sign-in, Firebase Authentication stores a refresh token locally so that you do not have to sign in again on every visit.
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices — encryption in transit, role-based access to databases, and limited operator access — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; please keep the device you use to access WhatsApp and our website itself safe.
8. Minors
Our service is not intended for people under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
9. Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page. Material changes will be notified to active subscribers over WhatsApp.
10. Grievance officer
Privacy-specific concerns can be routed to our designated grievance officer, listed on our Contact page.
